One frustrating change Samsung has made in recent years is how powering off and restarting phones works. The method you\u2019re probably used to doesn\u2019t work by default. We\u2019ll show you how to do it on the Samsung Galaxy S22 series.<\/p>\n

There are actually two methods you can use to power off or restart the Galaxy S22 series. This also applies to older Samsung Galaxy devices. We\u2019ll start with the simple method that doesn\u2019t require any configuration.<\/p>\n

Open the Power Menu From Quick Settings<\/h2>\n

First, swipe down from the top of the screen twice to reveal the full quick settings panel.<\/p>\n

Next, tap the power icon in the top right.<\/p>\n

This will bring up the power menu and you can \u201cPower Off\u201d or \u201cRestart\u201d the device!<\/p>\n

Enable the Power Menu From the Side Key<\/h2>\n

Samsung doesn\u2019t call the button on the side of the Galaxy S22 to \u201cPower Button\u201d for a reason. By default, holding the \u201cSide Key\u201d will wake Bixby. Let\u2019s change that.<\/p>\n

First, let\u2019s swipe down once from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon.<\/p>\n

Next, go to \u201cAdvanced Features.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Go<\/p>\n

Look for \u201cSide Key\u201d and select it.<\/p>\n

\"Select<\/p>\n

Lastly, switch the action for \u201cPress and Hold\u201d to \u201cPower Off Menu.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Choose<\/p>\n

Now, when you press and hold the \u201cSide Key\u201d a.k.a. Power Button, you\u2019ll see the power menu as you would expect.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s annoying that Samsung is still pushing Bixby this hard. There are some reasons to use Bixby<\/a>, but not many people want quick access to it.<\/p>\n
