You won\u2019t know how many likes your story received, or who liked it, unless you check manually.<\/p>\n<p>You can see your story likes in what\u2019s called the \u201cviewer sheet,\u201d which is where you would go to see who looked at your story.<\/p>\n<p>Instagram won\u2019t notify you about story likes because the point of rolling them out is to reduce notifications.<\/p>\n<p>As Mosseri <a href=\"https:\/\/www.searchenginejournal.com\/instagram-rolls-out-updates-to-live-videos-remixes\/435246\/\">announced earlier this year<\/a>, one of Instagram\u2019s priorities is to improve the messaging experience. Story likes are part of a larger effort to improve Instagram DMs.<\/p>\n<p>Story likes aren\u2019t visible to the public, so only you will know how many likes a story received.<\/p>\n<p>Since story likes are tracked in the viewer sheet, you\u2019ll have 24 hours to keep an eye on how many likes a story is getting before the data disappears.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t explicitly stated by Mosseri whether story likes will have an algorithmic impact.<\/p>\n<p>So it\u2019s not known if stories will be pushed to the front of the stories carousel if they receive a lot of likes.<\/p>\n<p>We also don\u2019t know if likes will increase the chances of a story appearing in the Explore tab.<\/p>\n<p>Whereas likes on feed posts definitely have an algorithmic impact on the main feed and the Explore tab.<\/p>\n<p>For all the known details about Instagram story likes, see the announcement from Mosseri below:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u2764\ufe0f Private Story Likes \u2764\ufe0f<\/p>\n<p>Starting to roll out today, you can now send some love by liking people\u2019s stories without sending a DM. <\/p>\n<p>Likes on stories are private and do not have counts.
