{"id":12104,"date":"2022-02-11T05:46:08","date_gmt":"2022-02-11T05:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mailinvest.blog\/index.php\/2022\/02\/11\/chipmaking-giant-asml-believes-chinese-rival-ripped-off-ip-the-register\/"},"modified":"2022-02-11T05:46:08","modified_gmt":"2022-02-11T05:46:08","slug":"chipmaking-giant-asml-believes-chinese-rival-ripped-off-ip-the-register","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mailinvest.blog\/index.php\/2022\/02\/11\/chipmaking-giant-asml-believes-chinese-rival-ripped-off-ip-the-register\/","title":{"rendered":"Chipmaking giant ASML believes Chinese rival ripped off IP \u2022 The Register"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/go.fiverr.com\/visit\/?bta=1052423&nci=17043\" Target=\"_Top\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/mailinvest.blog\/wp-content\/themes\/breek\/assets\/images\/transparent.gif\" data-lazy=\"true\" data-src=\"https:\/\/fiverr.ck-cdn.com\/tn\/serve\/?cid=40081059\"  width=\"601\" height=\"201\"><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"body\">\n<p>The world&#8217;s top manufacturer of lithography equipment, Dutch company Advanced Semiconductor Materials International (ASML), has warned that it believes a Chinese company may be selling chipmaking equipment that infringes its intellectual property rights.<\/p>\n<p>News of the possible Chinese imitation emerged in ASML&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.asml.com\/-\/media\/asml\/files\/investors\/financial-results\/a-results\/2021\/asml-annual-report-us-gaap-2021-unsvf2.pdf?rev=b6549b3f1903498fac72563f95f85277\" rel=\"noopener\">2021 annual report<\/a> [PDF] in a section on intellectual property protection:<\/p>\n<p>The annual report, dated this week, names the possibly infringing company as DongFang JingYuan Electron.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese company is certainly in the chipmaking business and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dfjy-jx.com\/en\" rel=\"noopener\">promotes<\/a> itself as a source of offering electron beam inspection products that improve the yield of chipmaking processes, as well as critical dimension-scanning electron microscopes that improve quality during the same processes.<\/p>\n<p>ASML&#8217;s annual report doesn&#8217;t specify what IP it thinks DongFang JingYuan Electron might be abusing, but states Chinese authorities have been informed.<\/p>\n<p>China is widely suspected of using espionage \u2013 some of it state-sponsored \u2013 to secure information about technologies it feels are necessary for the nation&#8217;s security and prosperity. FBI director Christopher Wray last week <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2022\/02\/03\/fbi_china_threat_to_usa\/\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> the agency he leads is currently investigating over 2,000 attacks on US targets alone.<\/p>\n<p>If China has turned its attention the Netherlands-based ASML, it will come as no surprise.
