The sheer volume has historically made it difficult for companies to leverage the data, with a 2017 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shrm.org\/resourcesandtools\/hr-topics\/technology\/pages\/why-hr-should-use-data-to-make-decisions.aspx\">survey<\/a> by Insight Avenue finding that 46% of HR professionals struggle to make better use of their people info.<\/p>\n<p>But the tide has begun to turn, thanks in part to the emergence of platforms that promise to reconcile and analyze the data in an automated \u2014 or semi-automated \u2014 fashion. A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eiuperspectives.economist.com\/sites\/default\/files\/EIU-Evidence%20Based%20HR%20PDF_0.pdf\">2018 KPMG report<\/a>\u00a0found that 82% of organizations were planning to either begin using or increase their use of big data and analytics in HR in the short term. And <a href=\"https:\/\/joshbersin.com\/2017\/12\/people-analytics-here-with-a-vengeance\/\">according<\/a> to Bersin by Deloitte\u2019s 2017 High-Impact People Analytics research, 69% of organizations with 10,000 employees or more now have a \u201cpeople analytics\u201d team.<\/p>\n<p>People analytics \u2014 which Gartner defines as \u201cthe collection and application of talent data to improve critical talent business outcomes\u201d \u2014 is what <a href=\"https:\/\/enboarder.com\/\">Enboarder<\/a>, an HR software development company based in Sydney, Australia, claims to enable. Enboarder, which offers tools for onboarding, learning and development, change management, diversity and inclusion, and employee transition in the workplace, today announced that it raised $32 million in a series B funding round, bringing the company\u2019s total raised to $50 million.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-data-driven-hr\">Data-driven HR<\/h2>\n<p>Enboarder was founded in 2015 by Brent Pearson, who previously cofounded HRX, a recruitment and placement process outsourcing firm. Pearson also served as GM at talent acquisition company Monster Government Solutions, VP at career platform LiveCareer, and CEO of blockchain-based customer loyalty startup Reffind. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the current fierce environment, only the organizations that can secure, retain, and grow the best talent will thrive. With HR playing such a critical role in this, it\u2019s imperative that their initiatives are as effective and successful as they can be,\u201d Pearson told VentureBeat via email. \u201cBut [t]he clunky and outdated systems HR is often associated with just won\u2019t cut it anymore. The great thing about Enboarder specifically is also that it takes a lot of pressure off IT, as the system is built in a way that HR can be in the driver seat. According to a PricewaterhouseCoopers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pwc.com\/us\/en\/tech-effect\/cloud\/hr-tech-survey.html\">report<\/a>, 21% of HR leaders cited concerns over the security of critical HR data stored on the cloud as a top technology challenge. In technology projects, HR leaders point to budget and integration with other solutions as their biggest implementation roadblocks, PwC finds. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome organizations have become good at people analytics, but most are not there yet,\u201d reads a 2021 HR.com study sponsored by Oracle. \u201cOnly 29% of respondents say they are good or very good at making positive changes based on people analytics, though another 35% rate themselves as \u2018moderate\u2019 in this area \u2026 [Moreover,] only 36% of respondents agree or strongly agree that their people analytics platform delivers actionable insights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pearson points to Enboarder\u2019s success as evidence to the contrary \u2014 at least among a subset of the customers that the startup currently serves. Over the past year, Enboarder \u2014 up against competitors like <a href=\"https:\/\/venturebeat.com\/2019\/06\/06\/workramp-raises-8-million-to-simplify-employee-onboarding\/\">WorkRamp<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/venturebeat.com\/2020\/12\/10\/hibob-raises-70-million-to-expand-its-data-driven-hr-platform-to-more-markets\/\">Hibob<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/venturebeat.com\/2019\/07\/08\/employment-hero-raises-15-million-to-simplify-employee-onboarding\/\">Employment Hero<\/a> \u2014 doubled its revenue and increased its customer base by 130% with over 400 clients including Deloitte, Dolby, Eventbrite, Hugo Boss, McDonalds, and Shopify.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven before the pandemic, our platform was solving for the challenges HR faces in the age of \u2018overwhelm\u2019 and with distributed workforces.
